EA Studios has announced a new game based on Marvel's Black Panther. The game is being created by a new trio studio called Cliffhanger Games, located in Seattle. Marvel Games is also collaborating on the development of this game.
The new game is described as a third-person adventure game with a focus on a single-player story, and according to a press release from Cliffhanger, their goal is to create a large, interactive game world that allows players to take on the role of Black Panther, protector of Wakanda.
Cliffhanger is led by Kevin Stephens, formerly of Monolith Productions, the team includes experienced professionals who worked on popular games such as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, God of War, Halo Infinite and Call of Duty, and the team is actively working and still under compilation.
And the untitled Black Panther project is still in its early stages of development, and it will be a few years before it's available to the public.
“We are committed to bringing fans a defining and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their own narrative than ever before in a story-driven video game,” Stevens said. “Wakanda is a rich sandbox for superheroes, and our mission is to develop an epic universe.” For players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda like we do."
The Cliffhanger Games development team will collaborate with Marvel Games to meticulously create every aspect of Wakanda, including technology, heroes, and the original story line, and the team is committed to ensuring that the world of Black Panther receives the authenticity and attention to detail it deserves.
Currently, there are several Marvel games in development, including Black Panther. EA has signed a contract with Marvel to create at least three action-adventure games for console and PC. The first game announced in this collaboration is Iron Man, which Developed by Motive Studios, the creators of Star Wars: Squadrons and the Dead Space remake.
