Threads will soon allow users to auto-delete posts

After Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg launched Thread on July 6, Twitter made some changes as the company quietly removed the restrictions of logging in to view tweets.

And now, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, has said in response to a feature request related to deleting posts automatically after 90 days, "I was thinking 30 but make it user choice, but maybe 90 if that's better..." Once the feature is when Threads rolls out, Threads will automatically delete posts after 90 days.

On the other hand, Twitter has seen some drastic changes since Elon Musk took office in October 2022. There have been layoffs, the introduction of a brand new subscription service, and some other changes that may not have gone down well with some users.

Threads comes as a Twitter alternative with an Instagram-ready user base. You don't need to open a Threads account as long as you have an Instagram account. The sign-up process, similar look and feel to Instagram, and doing what you can do on Twitter seem to have driven Threads app downloads.

Incidentally, Threads has made it clear that it does not want to replace Twitter in any way, Mosseri said in a thread, "The goal is not to replace Twitter, the goal is to create a public space for communities on Instagram that haven't really embraced Twitter and for communities on Twitter (and other platforms) Interested in a less angry place for conversations, but not all Twitter."
