It is always a good idea to check the storage status of your iPhone from time to time, even if the space is not completely empty. Below are the steps to identify the storage space on your iPhone, as follows
Step 1: Tap on the Settings app on your iPhone
Step 2: Choose General, then iPhone Storage
Step 3: On this page, you'll see a summary of the amount of storage space you're using on your iPhone versus the maximum allowed. By scrolling down, you can also see which items are using the most storage space. By default, the list is organized by size. Although this can be changed to Name and Last Use Date
After identifying the space, you can either leave it until it is full or empty, or go to the steps to empty the iPhone
